11A Worship - Peter & John on Trial
Greetings Friends in Christ!
The third part of the drama of Peter and John healing a lame man comes to a head when they are put on trial. Peter defends their actions bravely by appealing to the uniqueness of the name of Jesus and claiming Jesus fulfills the role of the person of Psalm 118:19-24… and that Jesus is the gate that opens to the righteous, built of the stone the builders rejected. Here we find that Peter’s vision of salvation has been transformed, but it’s perhaps not quite the vision we have in mind. And when released from custody, the believers assembled pray for continued boldness by praying Psalm 2 and seeing that the use of Jesus’ name brings rage and plots of the nations because he claims authority.
