9A Worship - Peter Replaced? (The Jerusalem Council)

 Greetings Friends in Christ! This week we see Peter’s final act of leadership, a passing of the torch in a non-descript manner. After this passage, Peter is not heard from again. Yet this crucial event in Acts 15, the Council of Jerusalem, sees the first formal act of the church conclude with a brotherly letter of encouragement that ensures Christianity will now diverge from its Jewish heritage. The leaders, James (the brother of Jesus), Peter, and Paul are all in the same room, wrestling with a major decision… what are the lines of Christianity? We might be surprised when we see their lines land in very different places than have been drawn in the intervening millennia.
