9A Worship - Peter in Chains

Greetings Friends in Christ!

As we enter our final month journeying with Peter, the second most mentioned person in the New Testament, we see him imprisoned along with the first martyred disciple: James son of Zebedee. Of course they were following a murdered man, Jesus of Nazareth, and Peter kept reminding them in his sermons that they killed their leader, but he rose again. But now it’s about to come home to the church that they were kicking the hornet’s nest with their message that Jesus is the true king. They’d been warned, but now the civil authorities have come to shut the movement down. What does the gospel of the kingdom of God mean when we don’t see God as king in the world?
