It’s bittersweet to conclude a long journey. We’ve arrived at the end of a long series on Peter, going from his call to be a fisher of men, his confession, his view of the Mount of Transfiguration, his denial of Jesus on trial, his restoration, his leadership of a burgeoning new movement, his opening the way for Gentiles, his arrest, and his eventual supplanting by James and Paul. What is Peter’s legacy and how might he sum up his own life and teaching? I hope unsurprisingly, “ambassador” fits his life and his own teaching perfectly.
