Greetings Friends in Christ!
Last week we saw Peter transition leadership to James at the Council of Jerusalem and that council conclude that Gentiles do not need to become Jews to follow Jesus or join their community. This week we get a behind-the-scenes view of the drama that came before that conclusion. Paul called Peter to account for hypocrisy, in a profound moment of accountability from the self-nominated apostle to the one Jesus himself named the Rock. But Peter then spoke in support of Paul at the council. This final portrait of Peter’s leadership is a fitting close to his story in the Bible.
