Greetings Friends in Christ!
After Peter and John heal a lame man, they go on to explain why they were able to do it and what the purpose of the healing was. The healings we see in Jesus’ life and in the book of Acts aren’t seen as ends in themselves, but as signs of some greater reality of what God is doing in all creation. Peter’s second sermon helps connect Old and New Testament as we see his explanation of who Jesus is and what he did. Some surprises ensue, at least in terms of how Peter’s gospel compares to modern expectations of gospel presentations.
