The Great I AM

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites:  'I AM has sent me to you.'" Exodus 3.14

What does God mean?  First and foremost, it means that there is no other God.  He is the one true God.  “I AM WHO I AM.”  We are the clay, and He is the Potter.  Who are we to question Him?  Even beyond that, how are we to KNOW Him?  What does “I AM” mean to us?
Knowing God as the Great I Am is to know His Presence and His Provision.
Prior to His ascension, Jesus told those with Him: “Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  God, the Great I Am, is always with us.  He is Omnipresent.  He was with Moses and the Israelites.  That’s all they needed to know.  God is telling the Israelites: “I Am WITH YOU”.
God was with us in Jesus Christ.  When the disciples were out on the lake in the middle of a storm Jesus came to them walking on the water.  The disciples thought He was a ghost.  Can you imagine how frightening that must’ve been?  In the middle of the night, in a boat on a lake as a storm starts to toss them about, a “ghost” comes walking towards them.  I couldn’t have started paddling fast enough or hard enough to get out of there.  But, as it says in Matthew 14, “Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I.  Don’t be afraid.’”  Did you see what Jesus said?  “IT IS I.”  He is literally saying: “I AM” - Jesus – Immanuel – The Great I AM – God With Us.
The presence of God continues to abide with us and within us through the Holy Spirit.  Jesus said, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever”.  John 16.14 Whatever life throws at us, whatever we are going through God wants us to take courage, not to be afraid, for HE IS WITH US.
The “I AM” reference also is God’s way for us to trust in His PROVISION.  “I Am Who I Am” – in other words, “You do not need anything or anyone other than ME.”

Consider the various I Am statements of Jesus and what He provides:
I Am the Way, The Truth and the Life
I Am the Bread of Life
I Am the Light of the World
I Am the Door
I Am the True Vine
I Am the Resurrection and the Life
Spend time bathing in the Presence of God and thank Him for His Provision.

Or, as you spend time in the Presence of God, tell Him what you need for Him to Provide:  Do you need to know His presence?  Do you need His peace?  Do you need Truth?  Do you need joy? Do you need healing?  Do you need forgiveness?....
TAKE COURAGE - HE IS WITH YOU - DO NOT BE AFRAID.
