FAMILY & CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES
BUDGET: $71,691 (Salaries $56,691 and Expenses $15,000)
The Children’s and Family Ministry exists to nurture the spiritual growth of our youngest members and support families in building Christ-centered homes. Every dollar invested in this ministry goes directly toward creating safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environments for children and their families. Our budget supports curriculum materials, supplies for Sunday school and midweek programs, snacks, outreach events, volunteer training, and safety resources such as background checks and classroom equipment.
One of the most exciting aspects of this ministry is the potential for long-term impact.
We are not just teaching Bible stories—we are planting seeds of faith that will grow for a lifetime. Looking ahead, I’m thrilled about the possibilities of expanding our programming to include family discipleship opportunities, parent workshops, and intergenerational service opportunities. These initiatives will help bridge the gap between church and home, empowering parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives. I envision the ministry growing in both depth and reach. I would love to see more small group opportunities for kids, where they can build deeper relationships with peers and mentors. I also hope to develop a stronger partnership with parents through regular communication, resources, and events that equip them to disciple their children throughout the week. Additionally, expanding our special needs ministry is a priority, ensuring every child feels welcomed and valued.
We’ve already seen beautiful fruit from this ministry. One recent encouraging moment came from a second grader in our Sunday school program. During our prayer time, we encouraged the kids to pray for one another out loud in a small group. A few Sundays ago, the child shared that they had started praying for a classmate at school who was going through a hard time. Not only that, they had asked their friend if they could pray with them right there during recess. When I asked this child how she was able to be so brave, she said, ‘I knew I could do it because I practiced praying for my friends at church.’ This is the heart of our ministry: equipping children not just with knowledge, but with the confidence and faith to live it out. It’s a beautiful reminder that what happens in our classrooms on Sunday mornings is preparing kids to be light in their everyday lives.
These stories remind us that God is at work in powerful ways through even the smallest moments.
However, to continue growing and deepening our impact, we need more volunteers.
We are currently seeking help in the following areas:
At the heart of everything we do is a focus on relationship formation. We believe that discipleship happens best in the context of trusted relationships—between children and leaders, between families and the church, and ultimately between each person and Jesus. Our goal is not just to teach information but to cultivate transformation through connection, consistency, and care. Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Together, we are raising up a generation that knows, loves, and follows Jesus.

STUDENT MINISTRY
BUDGET: $97,019 (Salaries $87,669 and Expenses $9,350)
The heart behind every Student Ministry event is creating a space where students feel: Safe, Valued and Supported. Safety is prioritized both physically and psychologically as we train our leaders and students alike in not only preventing abuse but also having standards of respectful and kind conduct. Value is communicated by accepting students exactly where they are in life and coming alongside to affirm them as beloved children of God first and foremost, regardless of any current misunderstanding of themselves or their Creator. Support is provided by actively pointing them towards the life-giving connection with God through Jesus by sharing the Truth from scripture, Testimony from each leaders own experience and providing constant opportunities to engage with and receive direction from the Holy Spirit.
Our funds go mostly into the “you are valued” category. Since they don’t “care what you know until they know that you care”, we take joy in investing in their God-given delights and passions (foreign as they may be to our older generation) to communicate their value. Nerf Battles, meals, prizes, excursions, a badminton set, a new volleyball or supplies for trending TikTok games are a few examples. Our second most active spending area is providing resources and opportunities for their “Support”. Things like: curriculum, devotionals, retreats, missions, mentorship over coffee or taking a road trip… all provide students who are eager to take the “next step” support in how they respond to Jesus’ call.
My favorite payoff of these investments right now is the amazing community that is growing in the Middle School classroom. Kids who have refused to speak a word in the past, are contributing regularly to discussion and are comfortable socializing with others. The trust that has been built between leaders and students is such that kids who have been known for their behavior problems in the past are taking leaps in their ability to act with maturity and respect.
Another of my favorite examples of the payoff involves one of those eager for the “next step” : A high school student who recently showed me a document on her phone that listed all her favorite verses she’s discovering as she gets into reading her Bible, while she described which were her favorites and why.
Potentials for volunteer involvement include: Service oriented folks who would help provide food, (donated or prepared); Confident leaders who would mentor or lead group excursions (fun/community building stuff or service/leadership oriented as well); and Promotion/Tech/Design minded volunteers who would help us create engaging flyers for the students and community, communicate regularly with parents about news and upcoming opportunities and stay current and engaged with our students on socials.
When I dream about exciting next steps I dream about being able to bring on a capable and trustworthy High School Lead to take on Sunday Club and Youth Group lessons for the High Schoolers; Freeing me up to be able to dive into creating more intentional spaces of encounter and application for the “Next Steps” crowd.

worship MINISTRY
BUDGET: $155,754 (Salaries $144,744 and Expenses $11,010)
At Grace of Christ, our vision is to see every person transformed by the love of Jesus through His Church — the living body of believers gathered, sent, and empowered by His Spirit. The Worship Ministry participates in this vision by creating Christ-centered spaces where people can encounter God’s presence, hear His truth, and respond with their whole hearts and lives.
Worship is not merely the music we sing or the order of service we follow. It is the joyful and reverent gathering of God’s people who come to remember who He is, what He has done, and who we are in Him. Each Sunday, the Worship Ministry helps our church turn its attention away from the noise and burdens of life and toward the transforming love of Jesus. Through Scripture readings, prayers, songs, visual elements, and moments of reflection, we set a table for the congregation to meet with God and be renewed.
Our ministry supports transformation by shaping a rhythm of weekly worship where hearts are softened, faith is strengthened, and lives are re-centered on Christ. The music we choose, the themes we highlight, and the liturgies we plan are all intentionally crafted to draw people deeper into God’s story and invite them to live as disciples. Worship is where the Gospel is proclaimed not only in words but in the beauty, unity, and humility of God’s people offering praise together.
Our Pastor, Gregory; Worship Leaders, Nate, Jason and Anne; the Sunday Morning Tech team and several more volunteers strive to cultivate an atmosphere of welcome. Whether someone has been part of Grace for decades or is walking through the doors for the first time, our hope is that they experience the warmth and authenticity of a community shaped by the love of Jesus. When the Church worships with sincerity, joy, and expectancy, people see the transforming work of Christ in real time.
If you are looking for a place to serve our Church, we are always welcome folks to our musical or worship tech teams.
Ultimately, the Worship Ministry team exists to help our congregation encounter God so that together we may be changed — becoming a people who reflect Jesus’ love to Yakima and beyond.

HOSPITALITY MINISTRY TEAM
BUDGET: $55,217 (Salaries $49,517 and Expenses $5700)
Your Hospitality Ministry Team hosts and coordinates...
The Welcome Center is a place where your questions can be asked and answered. Frequently throughout the year you can find sign-up sheets at the Welcome Center for things like plant, calendar, greeting card and pie sales. You can order and pay for them right at the Welcome Center. If you are interested in serving on a Sunday morning, you will find the weekly schedule and signup sheet. We can help you find the right place to share your God-given gifts! Our lost and found is at the Welcome Center, as well as First Aid kit, and our team can get messages to the staff if you have a question we can’t answer.
Greeters are the first contact when entering our building and sanctuary. Our friendly team, aka our welcoming committee, offers a warm greeting, kind smile, and a welcoming handshake. Refreshments are served between services. This team brews hot coffee, prepares the platters of cookies (mostly baked by our church family) and makes sure there is plenty of water. In the summer you’ll likely find boxes of fresh vegetables our church family brings from their gardens to share with others.
Our Ushers assist in handing out the Sunday flyer, helping people find a seat if needed, answering questions for guests. They are instrumental in collecting the offering, keep track of our attendance numbers and are there to assist when they see someone in need.
Baptisms happen a few times throughout the year, infants through adulthood. We have a team that works with church staff and families of those being baptized. Our quilting team prepares beautiful quilts for infants. Cakes are served in celebration.
Our dedicated volunteers love to serve in these ways, sharing the talents our Lord has given them. We love seeing people serving on a Sunday morning – and there is definitely a variety of ways to be involved. Recently, we have been fortunate to have teens and young adults working with us from our Intern and Student Ministries. We want to keep a rotation in all areas, so if this piques your interest, please contact anyone on our team for more information.
When you serve on these committees, you may be the first person a new attendee has contact with. This is an opportunity to help them feel welcome and familiar with who we are as a church community. You become more familiar with others in the Church, getting to know them and are more likely to get involved in other ways. When we are active and connected we become a together Church where we share ourselves, care about others and look out for our Church family. If you are a family who would like to serve, we’d love to talk with you.
The Hospitality Team includes Linda Mathews, Cathy Campbell, Joann Benson, Donnie Ide, Diane Smith, Linda Drumhiller, Dave Whiteside, and Debbie Meyers. You are invited to join us!

MISSION MINISTRY TEAM
BUDGET: $87,616 (Salaries $18,716 and Expenses $68,900)
The Missions Ministry Team of Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church proudly represents the missions we support to you, the Body of Christ. Two questions we frequently ask are: 1) Is our support of this mission or missionary directly elevating the passion for and personal involvement in Christian mission? 2) Is our support of this mission or missionary helping people know and follow Jesus? We believe that Grace of Christ’s missions meet these criteria.
Mission support begins at home, so with the resources God provides through you, we are able in turn to help fund numerous ministries in Yakima and the Valley. The Yakima Union Gospel Mission, which was founded by this church, is helping people move from homelessness to wholeness, giving them the opportunity to have their lives transformed in Jesus Christ. We also have a longstanding relationship with the Trailseekers program, which focuses on the Bible and its teachings, and builds relationships with underserved children and their families. Madison House, staffed by our own Gerardo Mendoza and assisted by intern Jasmine Barriga and others, helps kids after school with homework, fun activities, food, and a safe place to just be kids. Our Adams Elementary School ministry, led by Tom Oliva and Jake Kupp, maintain connections with staff, students, and families, building relationships week by week through reading mentors and special events, including the Adams Giving Tree. We also support Sacred Road Ministries in the White Swan area as they minister to families in need on the Yakama Reservation, providing tangible help along with spiritual encouragement and hope as they teach about Jesus through their youth programs and church on Sundays. These are just some of the local missions we support.
Each mission we support globally has roots in our church or in the Yakima Valley. The funds we provide directly to global missions supports their ability to share the Gospel and carry out the mission to which God has called them. You saw their testimonies on Missions Sunday, October 12th. If you missed those videos, go back and watch them online!
Every mission we support invites you to visit and get involved. This year we have taken groups on tours of YUGM, Sacred Road, and Madison House. Many of you have helped at Adams Elementary events. Most every year, some travel to our global partners, and the welcome door is always open, if you would like to go! Our motto is “Find your mission! Find your passion!” What excites us about future possibilities in missions is seeing every single person in our church personally connected to and praying regularly for at least one local mission and one international mission. We envision every person eager to learn more and growing in their understanding of God’s heart for the nations.
The fruit of our Missions Ministry Team is in those we support, as well as in our own hearts as we are drawn closer to Jesus Christ because we are involved in His mission for His glory.

TECHNOLOGY MINISTRY
BUDGET: $94,517 (Salaries $49,517 and Expenses $45,000)
At Grace of Christ, we believe the Church is not a building but a living community of believers — people transformed and continually being transformed by the love of Jesus. The Technology Ministry plays a vital role in helping that transformation reach far beyond the sanctuary and into homes, hospitals, workplaces, and hearts throughout Yakima and beyond.
In today’s world, technology is a powerful tool for connection, clarity, and communication. Our Technology Ministry ensures that every worship service is accessible, engaging, and distraction-free, allowing people to fully participate in worship and encounter Christ. Through sound reinforcement, projection, lighting, livestream broadcasting, and digital support, our team works behind the scenes to create an environment where the message of Jesus can be heard and experienced with excellence and reliability.
For those who cannot attend in person — homebound, traveling members, families with sick children, and new seekers exploring faith — our livestream can provide a lifeline. It carries the warmth, authenticity, and Spirit-filled worship of Grace directly into their homes, reminding them that they remain part of the body of Christ. Every camera angle, audio mix, and slide is prepared with the belief that even one moment of clarity can open the door to God’s transforming love.
Technology also supports discipleship during the week. Through digital communication, online resources, sermon archives, online giving and event registration and social media, we extend the ministry of Grace beyond Sunday mornings. These platforms help people stay connected to Scripture, to one another, and to the mission God has given us.
The Technology Ministry is more than equipment and cables — it is a ministry of service, hospitality, and stewardship. Our volunteers and staff embody the vision of the Church as a living people, generously using their gifts to help others see, hear, and respond to Jesus. When technology is executed with excellence and humility, it disappears into the background, allowing the message of the Gospel to shine with clarity.
In all these ways, the Technology Ministry supports the vision of Grace of Christ Yakima by helping every person — near or far — encounter the transforming love of Jesus through His Church.

BUILDING AND GROUNDS
BUDGET: $352,558 (Salaries $170,658 and Expenses $181,900)
Our custodial and maintenance staff serve as stewards of sacred space. The funds allocated to this ministry support the daily care of our church building—cleaning, repairs, up-keep, and preparation for worship, fellowship, and outreach. These aren’t just tasks; they’re acts of hospitality. Every swept floor, repaired light, and sanitized preschool is a quiet invi-tation for someone to feel safe, welcome, and at home.
This budget helps us employ a small team who work diligently to ensure our spaces are clean, functional, and inviting. Their work often goes unnoticed, but it’s foundational to everything else we do. When a visitor walks into a tidy sanctuary or a child plays in a well-maintained classroom, it’s because someone prepared the way.
We do have ongoing needs for volunteers, especially for deep cleaning days and seasonal landscaping. These are wonderful opportunities for people to serve together, build friendships, and take ownership of the space we share. It’s not just about mopping floors or trimming hedges—it’s about forming bonds through shared service.
Looking ahead, we would love to see us grow in our ability to care for our building as a place of ministry. Imagine a team of volunteers and staff working together to beautify our grounds, create welcoming entryways, and maintain spaces that reflect the warmth of our community. We dream of a church where the physical environment itself speaks of God’s love and people’s care.
One story that stands out: a retired gentleman began volunteering to help with trimming trees. Over time, he became a regular presence— praying with staff and even stepping into a leadership role here at the church. What started as a willingness to beautify the grounds became a ministry of presence and encouragement.
This ministry is about more than maintenance—it’s about cultivating a place where relationships can flourish. Thank you for supporting the unseen work that makes visible transformation possible.

ADMINISTRATION & OPERATING
BUDGET: $186,745 (Salaries $153,745 and Expenses $33,000)
Our support staff are the quiet backbone of our church community. The funds allocated to this area help sustain the daily rhythms that make ministry possible—from answering phones and welcoming guests, to organizing and copying, to managing technology that connects us across generations. These roles may seem behind-the-scenes, but they are deeply relational. When someone walks into our building and is greeted with warmth, when a worship service runs smoothly, when a grieving family finds comfort in a clean, prepared space—that’s the fruit of this ministry.
Currently, our budget supports a small team: administrative help, finance, and tech support. These individuals serve with humility and consistency, often going beyond their job descriptions to care for people. However, there are still gaps. We would love to see more volunteers step into roles like Sunday morning greeters, midweek office help, and tech support for events. These aren’t just tasks, they are opportunities to build relationships, to be present, and to serve with joy.
Looking ahead, we would love to see us grow in our capacity to care for people through hospitality. Imagine a team of volunteers and staff working together to make every person feel known and welcomed—from the moment they park their car to the moment they leave. We dream of a church where relational depth is cultivated not just in small groups, but in every hallway conversation, every shared cup of coffee, every act of service.
This ministry isn’t about tasks, it’s about people. It’s about creating space for connection, healing, and growth. Thank you for investing in the unseen work that makes visible transformation possible.

ECO COVENANT PARTNERSHIP
BUDGET: $11,500
Did you know that Grace of Christ has been supporting our Lead Pastor (in small part) since 2017? Grace of Christ is part of the denomination called ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. ECO funds its national ministries through a percentage of each member church’s budget. This means that our contribution is based on our budget, not on our membership numbers. The national office provides some important benefits to our church and presbytery (regional body). They handle our ordination process, help churches in need, facilitate training, and produce resources to equip churches for their “flourishing”. Pastor Gregory was the Theology Coordinator and was paid through church contributions in this way. If you are interested in learning more visit eco-pres.org.

grace of christ preschool
SUPPORT FROM GENERAL FUND: $6000
When I started as director five years ago, the vision set by our board was to bring back a Christian preschool to downtown Yakima. We remembered what the preschool was just a few short years ago: 80+ students spread between three to four classrooms in different programs. The building was teeming with children, parents, and teachers. We wanted to offer that to our community once again. We didn’t realize it, but our vision for preschool was clouded by nostalgia.
Our present reality is that most half-day preschools are struggling because of many factors:
The question on everyone’s mind is: If the preschool cannot be what it used to be, is it worth keeping around? We pray about this question every year and every year the answer is YES! We might not have the far-reaching influence on the preschool community that we once had, but we continue to build strong, lasting relationships with our students and families. Many of our families attend other activities here, like Starry Starry Nights, Trunk or Treat, Christmas Eve services, and VBS.
Here are some statistics for this current school year:
Our preschool annual budget is close to $67,000 this year. Only $6,000 (about 10%) is direct support from our church. The rest of our budget is made up of tuition, fees, donations & special gifts, and fundraisers (which are heavily supported by our church family). By offering a 3-day preschool and 5-day prekindergarten class in one classroom, we can easily double back to concepts students didn’t grasp and challenge all students, regardless of their age or how many days they attend. I support the classroom by teaching chapel, music, and PE, lead our preschool board, manage fundraisers, and communicate with families. I split my time between Preschool Director and Church Office Administrator, which gives me the flexibility to be on site every day and fill my time with useful tasks for both the preschool and church.
It is important to note that we offer scholarships and work with families on the cost of tuition – we NEVER turn away a family due to the cost of preschool. We also keep our tuition below most other programs in our area to be competitive and help families afford a quality program. While there have been lean years and years of plenty, we do not doubt that God will provide for our needs to keep our preschool thriving.

Our present reality is that most half-day preschools are struggling because of many factors:
- Low birth rates in Yakima County since 2020,
- Free or inexpensive full-day preschool offered by the public schools
- Parents and grandparents that work full time jobs and cannot easily pick up or drop off students in the morning
- Families that have moved farther from Yakima’s downtown area who find preschools closer to home

Here are some statistics for this current school year:
- Four students have parents who attended Grace of Christ’s preschool as children
- Six students have attended childcare or Sunday School at Grace of Christ at least once in the last year
- Six students enrolled because a sibling or cousin previously attended Grace of Christ preschool
- Eight students enrolled because someone they met highly recommended our program over any other program in our area

CAMP GHORMLEY
SUPPORT FROM GENERAL FUND: $5000
We are grateful for the people and ministry of Grace of Christ Church and their enduring commitment to the ministry of Camp Ghormley. The support Grace of Christ provides in 2026 will contribute to our general fund need to help all the ministry effectively take place. Ghormley has experienced a great deal of growth in the development of our facilities over the past few years, but our desire is to continue to increase our ability to offer excellent hospitality to our summer campers, and year-round guests, as well as our staff team.
Your continued support helps us do just that. Here’s just a few examples of how that takes place:
At the heart of the ministry of Camp Ghormley is the development of young people, both in their relationships with Christ, and with each other. We are rejoicing that 64 campers chose to follow Jesus for the first time in the summer of 2025, as well as hundreds more who said they grew in their walk with Christ during camp! We recently heard a testimony from a recent high school graduate regarding how Ghormley helped them grow, and they stated that Ghormley had played a foundational role in their faith growth all the way from elementary school until now, as well as giving them leadership opportunities this summer while serving on our staff team. This individual stated that they came into the summer with some big “faith questions”, and walked away with a new-found confidence in their walk with Christ thanks in large part to the mentoring from caring year-round staff and the resources they had been exposed to that will help them keep growing.
It’s that sort of impact that we desire to continue to make! We also are looking for people who want to make a hands-on impact and serve alongside us as volunteers!
Here’s a few ways we can use volunteer help:
Thank you, Grace of Christ Church, for your continued support! We are truly grateful for your continued partnership in the Gospel.

INTERN PROGRAM
SELF SUPPORTED
The Grace of Christ Intern Program supports students in multiple meaningful ways:
Future Plans:
We are expanding the program to collaborate with other churches that have interns. These students will be invited to join our SML experience, gaining the same ministry tools to use in their communities.
Impact and Fruit of the Ministry:
Since the program’s inception two years ago, four students have served as interns. Two of them have completed their degrees at Northwest University and are actively serving the Yakima community by providing aid to those in need. For the 2025–2026 school year, three new interns have joined, and two returning interns are in their third year of ministry with our youth group. All interns serve as ushers and greeters, fostering meaningful connections with church members. Our vision is for interns to remain in Yakima, using their ministry hearts to positively impact the community.
Kara Brown’s role has grown exponentially thanks to the combined strength of our interns. She disciples students through hands-on ministry during Tuesday and Wednesday nights, as well as Sunday Club. Kara provides gentle correction and guidance to support their growth into responsible, ministry-minded adults. Along with Larissa, she takes interns on retreats several times a year for spiritual and personal development.
Funding:
The Intern Program operates independently of the church’s general budget. Funding is raised by the Intern Board, which began the year with a $40,000 surplus. Contributions from the Stewardship Campaign are not required and will not be used to support this program in 2025–2026.
Don Stuber, Intern Committee Chair
The Grace of Christ Intern Program supports students in multiple meaningful ways:
- Tuition Assistance: We cover nearly half of each student’s tuition at Northwest University, providing $4,500 per year toward their education.
- Personalized Mentorship: Larissa Belknap, our Program Director, guides students through their studies, reading assignments, and available assistance programs at Northwest. She builds deep, personal relationships by meeting weekly with each student.
- School of Ministry and Leadership (SML): Students attend SML on Tuesdays, where ministry experts from across Yakima teach practical tools for lifelong ministry.
- Ministry Leadership: Interns take leadership roles in our student ministries under the guidance of Kara Brown, our Director of Student Ministries.

THE GRACE OF CHRIST FOUNDATION
The Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church Foundation is dedicated to expanding church ministry by administering assets and funding projects of GCPC. On December 17, 1996, the Session of the First Presbyterian Church voted to establish the Yakima First Presbyterian Church Foundation, now Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church. The goal of the Foundation is to maintain the expressed will of those who give and to work under the mission statement of the church. The Foundation Board is composed of ten church members, a church pastor, and the business manager.
Our Foundation relies on the giving spirit of others to help sustain Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church. Sharing our faith and material blessings with others is one of the cornerstone principles of our Presbyterian heritage. Sharing lets us provide spiritual and material support to those most in need. It is a way of uplifting those who need a hand or giving hope where there has been no hope before. By sharing we also ensure that future generations will have the same or even greater opportunity than we enjoy today.
When you give to the Foundation, you are sharing your blessings with others close to home and around the world. Your gift will make Grace of Christ stronger, more receptive, and responsive to the needs of generations to come.

GREAT COMMISSION FUND
Guiding Principles for the Great Commission Fund
An Endowment for Perpetuity
Purpose – The purpose of the fund is 3-fold:
The Great Commission Fund is based on Matthew 28:19-20. “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore, Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Distribution of Gifts
The Mission Team receives applications from April 1 to March 30. The MMT decides on which applications meet our criteria, and by June 1 decide how much of last year’s Interest gained should be given and to whom.
Recent Giving
This spring we gave grants of $3500 to Jahzeel Garcia-Figueroa for her mission with Young Life at Davis High School. We sent $3500 to Ann Marie Hausler from Sacred Road for their mission in and around White Swan. The final gift was for $1000 to Jasmine Barriga for her mission work at the Madison House.
On-going Discussion on what amount to give.
Presently, the amount of money given is based on the interest gained last year based on the Year-End Report produced by Tammy Nunley. We can give up to 90% of the interest. The principal will never be touched. Mark Baldwin recently suggested that we change+ our by-laws to give a set amount each year. (5% perhaps) The MMT has not decided to make that change.
Financial Perspective
There is $230,000 invested with Morgan Stanley through the Church Foundation. There is also a Legacy Fund of $275,000 in people’s wills.
