PRAYER MATTERS
Psalm 116.2 “Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.”
Hebrews 10.24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Our small group had an encouraging discussion on peace the last time we met. We went through scriptures, reading some parables, focusing on God’s gift of Peace through Christ Jesus. We listened as each of us shared the difficulties we are (or have) experiencing in areas of our life that are lacking in peace. Areas we need to forgive. Areas we need to surrender to God. It was not an easy study, but it was deeply touching. We not only got to encourage one another, we were able, during our prayer time and as we read His Word, to remind ourselves how much the Lord loves us. How He wants the best for us. How He will walk through the hills and valleys with us – never leaving us. I believe we each left that small group time feeling a renewed sense of joy, hope, love, and peace. Thank You Lord!
This week in our prayer time, as we ask God how He’d like us to be praying for these requests, let us open our hearts to receiving what He also has for us. Is He asking us to do something – like show kindness, forgive, offer grace, give something up – to draw us closer to Him and the Kingdom of Heaven? Is there something blocking us from receiving all He has for us that we need to deal with pronto? Let’s sit with our Father in Heaven, allow Him to clean house a bit, (our internal “house”) and then enter into prayer for our church family and friends.
If you are ready to be in a small group, please pray asking the Lord where He’d like you to start. Is He nudging you to start a group – ask a friend or a new acquaintance (at work, church, a neighbor) to meet with you weekly? If you’d like to talk to me about being part of a small group, give me a call at the church.
May this Christmas season change us in a way that brings more of the light of Jesus to those around us.
