Finding The Courage To Praise The Lord
The command to “praise the Lord” is found over 250 times in the Bible, but what does that really mean? Is it simply singing, “praise the Lord” in a song? Hardly. We praise God thoughtfully as we exclaim things about His Person, character and work. For example, we might praise God for His goodness, greatness, majesty, kindness, wisdom, power, patience, love, forgiveness and grace. In giving God praise, we connect with our Creator as His beloved children. And when things are going well, you might find it natural to give God praise and thanks…but what about during time of difficulty, disappointment and struggle?
It’s not always easy to sing, rejoice and “praise the Lord” when life is tough and challenging. In Psalm 149, we are called to praise the Lord in a variety of circumstances, which is not always an easy thing to do. As we study Psalm 149 together, my prayer is that all of us would find the courage to “Praise the Lord!”
