pastoral thoughts on re-entry

let us all pay attention to what God is saying through the Word, through prayer, by the Holy Spirit, in conversations with other believers

July 17, 2020

Dear Grace of Christ Family,

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”  (James 1.17)

God has blessed Grace of Christ with many good and perfect gifts: time, talents, and treasures.  As God does His part, we are doing ours by keeping expenses to a minimum.  So far we are able to stay below our projected expenses at this halfway point of the year.  We have also received almost half of what was projected for giving at this time of the year.  So, we are pretty much on pace with our 2020 budget, thanks to your faithfulness.  We appreciate what you are able to contribute at this time. We are blessed beyond measure.
It is through your generous and extravagant giving, that we are able to do the ministry of the church.  We continue to support our Missionaries.  We are contributing to families in need of food and other resources.  Please know that we are indeed humbled by how the Grace of Christ family continues to “be the Church”.

I want to also update you on our reentry plans.  We initially were informed that we could reenter and gather for worship with certain number limitations.  This past week we received an “oops” message from the Health Department.  There was a miscommunication that has since been clarified.  Unfortunately, we cannot reenter for worship at this time.  So, although we cannot gather together in the Sanctuary, we continue to trust that God is using us to be vessels of His good gifts and unconditional love in ways that we might otherwise not be doing.  We serve a very creative God, and He is giving us ways to continue “be the Church” for His Kingdom and His glory in order to make disciples of all nations.

Finally, there are two things to keep in mind:

  • Adopt-a-Family Book Drive.  Adams Elementary is asking us to provided used/new books for K through 5th graders that can be given to families during this time.  You can take books from your bookshelf and bring them to the church gym on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, July 23rd, at 10am, join Carla Kupp, Ericka Clark, myself and others for a time of intercessory prayer on the South and North Lawns.  We will be put into groups of 5, and we will practice social distancing while requiring everyone to wear a mask.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket. read more & register online

I look forward to our times of worship each week, for I truly feel the presence of God in all that we do, all that we offer, and all that we receive through the One who is our Father of Lights.

In Christ, and because of His Grace,
Pastor Bill
