Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church always tries to be incredibly inclusive and welcoming. And, thank goodness, we are! Isn’t that what our Good Lord would want from his church folks? However, on January 30th at 2:00pm in the Garden Room we will be hosting an irregular, rather exclusive event. It will appeal only to those who like to sit and laugh. The rest of you are to stay home or find something else to do. January and February can be long, gray months. So this year we will be having a Groundhog Day celebration. Ye, yes we know that Groundhog’s day isn’t until February 2nd, but that is Pastor Bill’s time with you. So, we will do our grand hoohaw just a wee bit earlier.
A couple of Groundhog Carols are in order. You’ll know the tunes and we’ll share the words. Groundhog munchies are a complete must and they’ll be here bursting with calories. If you are still hanging in there with your New Year’s resolution to lose weight, we suggest you bring your own celery.
While some of you have shared that you absolutely love Pin the Tail on the Groundhog, that activity can be quite strenuous and intellectually demanding. So, we’ll avoid that one, but you will have other opportunities to be little silly. Should a short game present itself, you will be strongly encouraged to cheat by looking at your neighbor’s efforts. Groundhog Bingo is a possibility but if you don’t go for that sort of thing you will not be shamed into a corner. “Snowflake under B or daffodil under O” isn’t for just everyone.
So…if you think you could blend into this select group of folks, we encourage you to get this on your calendar. If there is a run of gray clouds and cold weather over the next few weeks, this might just lift your spirits. We’d be thrilled if you could join us. If this just isn’t your cup of tea, please stay warm and cozy wherever you are, doing whatever you want…with our blessings.
