EDITH FIGUEROA-GONZALES: I grew up in a household where I was taught about the gospel, I continued to learn more about Christ and accepted him into my heart as a teen. Life continued on for me and I started my family in Arizona, where most of my kids where born. Then God led us to North Carolina. We lived there for a few years, but then circumstances became difficult ending up with me becoming a single mother to 5 soon to be 6 kids. In mine and my family’s possibly darkest time, God was present. There aren’t any words that can explain God’s love and mercy for us in that moment. I know for a fact that he has and will always be there for us. God then led me and my kids to California where we lived for a short amount of time, but long enough for my youngest to be born. About a month after his birth God had moved my family once more. In October of 2010 my family moved here to Yakima. We visited First Pres., now Grace of Christ, and then proceeded to attend Cristo Vive. It was not long after that my family became members of the church. I have had the pleasure in participating and volunteering in what ever I could and if I wasn’t helping, my daughter Jahzeel was. One of the things I am most grateful for is how involved my daughter was with worship over the years. I am so proud of her especially now as she is attending Eastern Washington University. As a member I do what I can to serve. As of now I am helping with the hispanic church children’s ministry. I am just so grateful that we have the privilege to be apart of this congregation.
MATT & SARAH MILES: Our family has been going to Grace of Christ for around five years and we joined in 2016. We have grown close to the people and community and want to become further invested in the church. We have lived in Lower Naches for 20 years, where we are raising our daughter (Brooke) and son (Ridge). We enjoy the outdoors and spending time together.
PEGGY STEERE: Jeff and I met on a blind date our senior year of college. We moved to Yakima with our two daughters Wendy and Jennifer in the fall of 1978 to pursue our careers at Virginia Mason Memorial. I’m retired from nursing but remain as a contract nurse educator for community health education classes. Our daughters married fine men and we’ve been blessed with 5 lively grandchildren. Jeff and I joined Grace of Christ in 2000. We came a bit wounded but were nurtured and loved into the family. We’ve enjoyed being apart of short term missions to Haiti, Ecuador, Guatemala, Ethiopia and most recently Mexico. We are small group leaders and I serve on the media team. This is my second “rodeo” as a deacon and I count it a joy and privilege to serve.
STEVE & KATHY STERMOLLE: We moved to Yakima from Belfair, Washington in the spring of 2010. After building our “retirement” home, we began searching for a home church. Started attending First Pres in 2011, and joined in 2012. Steve is on the church security team, and Kathy is part of the Women’s ministry team. Steve enjoys hiking, fishing and reading. Kathy enjoys quilting, gardening and dog training. We are looking forward to helping with the Deacon’s.
JAKE WEBER: I joined Grace of Christ Presbyterian church in 2009 and have been active with Sunday Bible classes, served with many areas of the Hospitality team and am a part of the Men’s Prayer Group. I look forward to serving our church as a Deacon.
Deacons willing to be elected to serve an additional term: Debbie Girard, Al and Nancy Harding, Rick Larsen, Cindy Peugh, Cathy Simons and Barbara Toweill.
PASTOR ALEX RULE: Our family and I moved to Yakima Washington in October of 2009. In early 2010, my wife Aurora, my two children, Alex, Adrian and I started attending the Spanish services (Cristo Vive) at Grace of Chris Presbyterian Church formally called First Presbyterian Church, and immediately began serving God’s church and community. We became members in the same year. During the time we have been serving God, He has shown us the way we should follow and serve Him. My wife gave her life to our Lord, and she was baptized in November 2010 in this church. God has blessed us with two more children, Ariana and Andrew who were born in this beautiful city of Yakima. I can feel God’s blessing and direction in our lives for God has given me the opportunity to serve as a Spanish pastor here at Grace of Christ. Adrian, who is now 20 years old, is now serving the Marines in North Caroline for two year, and got married. My Wife Aurora and I continue serving our church and our community together.
